Material Exchange Between Salt Marshes and the Estuary
(NGI-LSU Project LSU-04)
Regional Interest
Climate change and rising sea levels are of interest to all coastal populations, not just along the Gulf coast. Salt marshes, are a common feature along the US Gulf coast, and are one of the most productive natural habitats existing today. They sustain high primary productivity and are also nursery grounds for many coastal fish. Thus citizens of this region will be interested in the impact climate change will have on this critical ecosystem.
