Education:
M.S. Student, Louisiana State University, 2007 - present
Research Interests:
I am interested in investigating phytoplankton ecology of the Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean, including phytoplankton toxin production and its impacts on marine food webs and human health. Specifically, I am interested in the marine diatom, Pseudo-nitzschia, and freshwater cyanobacteria, and their production of neurotoxic domoic acid (DA) and cyanotoxins, respectively. I am investigating the environmental factors, including nutrient- and light- limitation, which contribute to phycotoxin production by phytoplankton, in laboratory batch culture and chemostat experiments.
