The LSU Northern Gulf Institute is part of a NOAA Cooperative Institute. Established in 2006, NGI is a collaboration of NOAA and five academic institutions and is headquartered at Mississippi State University. The mission of NGI is to conduct high-impact research and education programs in the Northern Gulf of Mexico focused on integration.

This project website is supported through funding from the Northern Gulf Institute, a NOAA Cooperative Institute administered by Mississippi State University.

The five academic institutions partnering the Northern Gulf Institute are Mississippi State University (MSU), University of Southern Mississippi (USM), Louisiana State University (LSU), Florida State University (FSU), and the Dauphin Island Sea Lab (DISL).
